Who is Small Arms Society?

 The Small Arms Society (SAS) will actively promote and guide the restoration and adaptive re-use of the Small Arms building as part of ongoing community revitalization and neighbourhood renewal. The organization will work in concert with the owners of the building and other stakeholders to encourage the creative use of spaces and a dynamic mix of cultural, heritage, arts, science and environmental endeavours. 

1. Heritage Preservation 

Preserve, commemorate and promote the history and heritage significance of the building and site including the continuing role of women today. 

3. Creative Hub

Create an environment and spaces to encourage the incubation of talent, sharing of creative ideas and production of innovative projects.

5. Partnerships 

Identify and optimize relationships with key stakeholders to enhance communication, define common values and goals to ensure the success of joint endeavours.

7. Connectivity 

Ensure initiatives are consistent with or complementary to other related community, municipal, regional endeavours such as the Lakeview legacy project and Mississauga Cultural Plan.

2. Adaptive Re-use 

Ensure the adaptive re-use of spaces promote safe, flexible and purpose-built facilities for a wide range of cultural, heritage, arts, artist/artisan, science and environmental uses.

4. Creative Spaces 

Provide a sustainable mix of affordable and market value rental spaces for permanent or temporary use by artists, artisans, designers and other creatives and culture, heritage, arts, science and environmental enterprises/agencies.

6. Education

Deliver or facilitate unique creative programming, instructional seminars, workshops, summits, conferences, and celebrations with cultural, heritage, arts, science and environmental partners.

8. Accountability

Operate on an economically self-sustaining basis by attracting volunteers, strategic partners, sponsors and donors to create and manage fund raising endeavours and revenue streams.
